Maths Challenges

Here are some extra maths challenges.  Please look at the tasks in the daily timetables and use these if you would like additional challenges.

The Early Learning Goal for Number - End of Year R

Children count reliably with numbers from one to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. They solve problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.

You could try the following activities with your child.

  • Use number cards or numbers written on pieces on paper, order from 1-20.
  • Randomly say numbers between 1 and 20.  Ask you your child what is one more than or one less.  e.g. What is one more than 10?  What is one less than 16?
More activities will follow soon.
