Homework
In Year Five, homework is set every week on Friday and is due back on the following Wednesday.
Homework will consist of the following:
In addition, this term we would like all children to regularly practise their times tables using Times tables Rocks Stars https://ttrockstars.com . Children should know their individual log ins/ passwords.
Reading Information
In Year Five, we encourage independent readers and the expectation is that pupils read at home every day, whether this be independently or with you. Regular reading is crucial to improving your child's writing skills - the most avid readers are often the best writers as they experience a range of different genres and author styles that can help them in their own independent writing. It is your child's responsibility to choose either a book from home, the classroom or the school library to have in school. Your child has been provided with a reading record to fill in whenever they read at home. Once your child has read three times, they will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into a prize draw at the end of the term.
Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)
DEAR takes place every day straight after lunch. The idea is everyone drops what they are doing and picks up a book and reads. This will last between 10-15 minutes and all you will hear is the turning of pages throughout the school while everyone enjoys their book including teachers!
PE Information
PE will take place on a Wednesday and Friday. It is important that your child comes in wearing their kit on these days.
